At Lings Primary School we have the highest of standards in all that we do, and we take real pride in our appearance.

Priority is making our uniform affordable and easily available to our parents. School sweatshirts, cardigans, fleeces, and book bags with the school logo on are available to purchase online from www.myclothing.com, but these are optional items.

We are happy for pupils to wear non branded/logo uniform but in the school colours. All our required uniform items can be purchased from major supermarkets and retailers.

Our required uniform is therefore as follows: -

All Year Groups Reception to Year 6 

• Royal Blue cardigan/jumper with or without logo
• Grey trousers/shorts/skirts or pinafores
• Black shoes – no flashing lights, colours, or obvious logos
• White polo shirt

Children may wear royal blue gingham summer dresses during the summer term.

Hair accessories should be minimal and preferably in school colours. Hair should be kept out of children's eyes using headbands, clips, and slides; again, preferably using school colours. If your child has shoulder length hair, for health and safety reasons, we request that it is tied back in a ponytail. If you wish your child to wear a headscarf for religious reasons, then this item must be royal or navy blue. Headscarves must not have any embellishments, such as diamante decoration.

PE Kit

All pupils are required to wear a separate PE kit as follows:

• Black shorts
• Black or white t-shirt

Additional plain black plimsolls or trainers (for outdoor games) are required. In winter, plain black or grey tracksuit trousers and sweatshirt are also recommended.

Swimming

Swimming is a crucial life skill which is why it is compulsory in the national curriculum for primary-age pupils. It is therefore extremely important that children arrive at school with their swimming kit. Please note that the correct kit is as follows: -

• Boys - Lycra swimming trunks (shorts are not permitted) and swimming hat
• Girls - One piece costume (or sunsuit for religious reasons) and swimming hat

Swimming hats are required, these can be purchased via your class teacher for £1.00. Jewellery is not permitted (religious included)

Jewellery

Jewellery is not expected to be worn although watches are permitted. If your child has pierced ears, then one pair of studs is acceptable. We expect that if children have their ears pierced, then this should be done at the start of the summer holidays so that they can be removed independently by the child when they return to school. All jewellery must be removed before any PE lessons.

Makeup

Children are not permitted to wear any type of makeup including nail varnish.
